The Libraries Rock! Summer Lecture Series at Belfast Free Library, 106 High St., will conclude Monday, Aug. 20, at 6:30 p.m. with a talk by Neal Harkness titled That Sweet Soul Music. As white performers took the largely black music of rhythm and blues to the top of the charts, black artists such as Ray Charles and James Brown brought a new sophistication to their music and created a new genre that became known around the world as soul.
